【摘要】:FrequentlyIGunitsareadheredwithastructuralsealanttoametalframingsystem.Insuchapplications,onlytheinwardliteofglassisusuallyadheredtotheframe.Asaresult,asignificantportionofanyoutward-actingornegativewindloadmustbecarriedintensionbythejointsealbetweenthetwolitesoftheIGunit.ThistestwillnotprovideinformationontheintegrityoftheIGunitprimaryseal;however,itmayprovidedataonloadsharingbetweentheprimaryIGvaporsealandthesecondarystructuralsealant.Althoughthistestmethodprescribesoneenvironmentalcondition,otherenvironmentalconditionsandexposurecyclescanbeemployedforspecificprojectevaluation.Suchdeviationsshouldbedescribedwhenreportingthedata.1.1Thistestmethodcoversalaboratoryprocedureforquantitativelymeasuringthetensilestrength,stiffness,andadhesionpropertiesofinsulatingglassedgesealsthatareusedinstructuralsealantglazingapplications.Edgesealsfortheseapplicationsuseastructuralsealanttobondbothglasslitesandtheedgespacerintoamonolithicsealedinsulatingglassunit.Intypicalapplications,thestructuralsealantactstoholdtheoutsideliteinplaceunderwindandgravityloadandtomaintaintheedgespacerinitsproperposition.Hereafter,theterm"insulatingglass"willbeabbreviatedas"IG."1.2ThecharacterizationoftheIGsecondarysealantproperties,asdefinedbythistestmethod,arestronglydependentonglassandedgespacercleaningprocedures,IGspacerprofile,locationofspacer,andprimaryIGsealantapplication.UsersofthistestmethodmustrecognizethattheIGedgesealassemblyinfluencesthesecondarysealantproperties.1.3Thevaluesdeterminedbythistestmethodwillbecharacteristicoftheparticularedgesealassemblythatistested.Note18212;Presently,onlyelastomeric,chemicallycuringsiliconesealantsspecificallyformulatedforuseasthesecondarysealofIGunitsarerecognizedashavingthenecessarydurabilityforuseinstructuralsealantglazingapplications.1.4ThevaluesstatedinSI(metric)unitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Theinch-poundvaluesgiveninparenthesesareapproximateequivalents,providedforinformationpurposes.
